2025. March 04. – On March 1st, the golf club previously known as Pannonia Golf & Country Club kicked off the 2025 golf season with an exciting twist, as it now welcomes guests under a new name and brand identity as BOTANIQ Máriavölgy Golf Club. A key part of the club’s development strategy includes the renovation launched in the summer of 2024, the rebranding, and joining the Botaniq Collection. The goal of these efforts is to meet the highest international golf course classification standards and to rank among the top 100 clubs in Europe in terms of both quality and guest experience. The renovation is expected to be completed by early summer, after which guests will be able to enjoy the revamped Clubhouse and new locker rooms. As a member of the Botaniq Collection, visitors will also be able to use their BOTANIQ Benefit cards after the summer reopening, allowing them to earn and redeem points during their visits.
The BOTANIQ Máriavölgy Golf Club’s instructor team has expanded by four new members for the new season, bringing the total to six professionals dedicated to supporting guests in their training and development. Two certified PGA golf instructors, Barnabás Popovits and János Zsákai, have joined the club. Additionally, athletes focusing on youth development can now benefit from the expertise of Adél Vadkerti and Zsombor Holló, who are newly certified golf instructors. Both Adél and Zsombor have previously represented the club as players and trainee coaches. Emphasizing experience and continuity, Gergő Böndicz, who has been working with the club for 10 years and also serves as the head coach of the Hungarian National Team, now strengthens the BOTANIQ team as Head Pro. Furthermore, the highly experienced, widely recognized, and well-respected golf professional Csaba Szigeti, a multiple-time amateur and professional Hungarian Champion, will also join the club starting in April.
„With the launch of the 2025 season, we have reached an important milestone: with our rebranding and new identity, we are joining an internationally recognized chain that shares our values and supports our long-term goal of achieving international success. The development project initiated last summer has now entered a new phase—alongside the renovation of the Clubhouse and its surrounding areas, we have placed special emphasis on expanding our range of services. In the new season, we will welcome our guests with diverse events, weekday and weekend tournaments, golf showcase events, and the support of an experienced team of six instructors. In addition, one of the club’s key commitments is to nurture the youngest generation of golfers, as high-quality youth development is essential for the sport’s continued success—and we aim to be at the forefront of this effort.” – said Máté Szeberényi, director of the BOTANIQ Marientvalley Golf Club, Member of the Board of the Hungarian Golf Federation.
In the 2025 season, BOTANIQ Máriavölgy Golf Club will host 14 tournaments. The season will kick off with the Alois Windbrechtinger Memorial Season Opening Scramble Tournament. Additionally, Máriavölgy will once again be the venue for prestigious events such as the Audi quattro Golf Cup, the Turkish Airlines Amateur Golf Open, the Hungarian Open Junior Championship, and the Hungarian Club Team Championship.
How Can a Golfer Prepare for the 2025 Season?
In golf, physical fitness plays a crucial role. During preparation, amateur players should aim to incorporate strength training with proper stretching at least once or twice a week. At the semi-professional level, general strength training and stretching are replaced by more specific workouts, with a special focus on core muscles and mobility development. At this stage, following a detailed training plan can be highly beneficial. Professional golfers take preparation to an even higher level by incorporating personalized nutrition and hydration plans, as well as sleep optimization, all of which play a significant role in their physical conditioning.
Beyond fitness, technical preparation is equally important. Even at the amateur level, practicing swings using indoor simulators or covered driving ranges can be a great help. Semi-professional players should follow a structured training program to identify and correct weaknesses while refining their strengths. At the professional level, technical preparation is further enhanced with data-driven analysis, allowing even the smallest errors to be corrected. Additionally, ensuring that equipment is in top condition is essential. Before the season starts, checking and, if necessary, replacing golf clubs, grips, and even shoes can help players start the season smoothly and without any setbacks.
